Step-by-Step Guide to Updating Your Blackmagic Camera Firmware

Step 1. Download the Blackmagic Camera Setup Program

Head over to the official Blackmagic website (blackmagic.com) and navigate to the Support tab. Select Professional Cameras and search for the latest software—Blackmagic Camera Update. Download the version compatible with your operating system.

Step 2. Install the Program

Once the download is complete, unzip the file and run the installer. Follow the on-screen instructions in the installation wizard to complete the setup.

Step 3. Connect Your Camera

Launch the Blackmagic Camera Setup program and connect your camera to your computer using a USB-C cable. To ensure your camera doesn’t run out of power during the update, connect it to a power supply or use an additional battery via the power connector on the side of your camera.

Step 4. Check for Firmware Updates

Turn on your camera, and it should appear in the Blackmagic Camera Setup program. Click the Settings button, and if a firmware update is available, you’ll see a notification. Proceed with the update by following the on-screen instructions.

Step 5. Complete the Update

Wait for the update process to finish. Your camera will guide you through the final steps. Once done, you can verify the new software version in the Camera Setup program.
